OMFG:
As celebrity themed reality TV goes, it's a long way from making them eat bugs. One of the cornerstones of BBC2's new year schedule will aim to meticulously recreate a high-profile rape trial using top lawyers and following 12 celebrity jurors as they reach their verdict. (The Guardian, 13 Dec 06)
Wow, rape as fodder for entertainment.
Should women be more responsible?
Tory MP Ann Widdecombe says women have used date-rape drugs as an excuse when they have been attacked while drunk . . . I think a lot of women say 'he must have drugged me' when what they really mean to say is 'I got so drunk I can't remember what really happened'.
Oh, good lord. Women have to be "responsible" for not being raped. What year is this? I thought we were a more enlightened world.
How about a better solution to the issue?
I strongly applaud the work of Men Can Stop Rape, a Washington, D.C.-based organization that fosters important dialogue and education about violence, rather than continuing the blame-game.
While most rape-prevention materials are focused toward women (and changing our behavior), MCSR has developed a series of educational programs and advertising to teach college and high school age men about preventing sexual assault.
